The Anderson Poolworks Story
1997
Originally founded by the Anderson Family as Anderson’s Plastering, a company specializing in pool plastering. At first, Pacific Northwest pool builders hired Anderson’s Plastering to plaster their newly-built pools.
2000
After realizing customer demand for modern design elements and industry best practices was unmet by the region’s builders, Anderson’s Plastering rebrands as Anderson Poolworks to reflect increased services in the pool industry. Dana joins the board of directors of the National Plasterer’s Council.
2007
One of several pools constructed by Anderson Poolworks in the Street of Dreams showcase features a vanishing edge/perimeter overflow design.
2008
Featured on the Street of Dreams magazine cover, Anderson Poolworks is increasingly recognized as the go-to custom pool builder in the region that will bring the best options and materials to every project. APW leads regional implementation of the Virginia Graham Baker Pool and Spa Safety Act.
Cal Poly Test Pools
In his role as Chairman of the NPC, Dana leads creation of the National Pool Industry Research Foundation and plays key role in construction of 12 research pools at Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo.
Hawaii Expansion
A major pool industry consulting firm introduces APW to a flagship Hawaii resort as the only contractor able to deliver with the expertise needed, on the tight timeline demanded. Ritz Carlton, Westin, and others follow.
Today
Nearly 30 years in, with continued leadership roles in national industry organizations, Anderson Poolworks has the most comprehensive swimming pool design/build/repair/renovate/maintain business model in the region, with the same commitment to residential clients that started it all.
Why Anderson Poolworks
What Sets Us Apart
One company from design through long-term care:
Anderson Poolworks’ team designs, builds, renovates, and maintains pools under one roof. No handoffs. One call for everything.
We've shaped the standards, not just followed them:
Leadership roles in PHTA, the Builders Council, and the National Plasterers Council. Involvement in developing national safety codes. We help write the rules others learn later.
Technical depth that shows up in the details:
Multiple PHTA-Certified Builder Professionals and Certified Service Professionals on staff. Train-the-trainer capability was developed internally, with Certified Pool Operator training offered to industry pool operators. Water chemistry, systems, and design/engineering expertise most providers don't have.
We can start when you're ready:
Most projects begin three to five weeks from building permit approval. We scale to meet demand rather than pushing clients out a year or more.
Experience from complex projects applied to yours:
Resort builds. Institutional facilities. Hillside pools on pilings. That perspective informs every residential project we take on.
Built on Long-Term Commitment
When you call Anderson Poolworks with a question two years after your pool is finished, you'll talk to someone who knows your project. Our leadership team has been with the company for decades. Many employees have built entire careers here.
You're not talking to a vendor or a subcontractor. You're talking to someone who knows the company standards and knows your pool.

Before You Compare Bids
-
Regional costs here are higher than in warmer climates. A custom gunite pool in the Pacific Northwest Area typically starts around $250,000 and averages closer to $300,000. A comparable pool in Arizona might cost $100,000 to $200,000. The difference comes down to labor costs, site conditions, and a shorter building season.
-
Most projects can begin three to five weeks from building permit approval. Permitting timelines vary, but once we start, a typical residential pool takes three to four months to complete. Complex sites or custom features may take longer.
-
Gunite pools are fully custom. Every dimension, depth, and feature is designed for your specific property. Fiberglass pools come in preset shapes and sizes but install faster, often in under a week. We offer both and help you determine which fits your site, budget, and goals.
-
We do. Unlike most builders who hand you off to a separate service company, we keep everything under one roof. The same team that designed and built your pool can maintain it for years. One call. Full accountability.
-
Look beyond the proposal. Ask who handles service after construction. Ask about credentials and industry involvement. Ask how long they've been in business and whether they've handled projects similar to yours. The cheapest bid often costs more in the long run.
